There has been some quick patching outside No30 Strafford Ave and it is passable now though still rough. The other and more important problem sites at Wath Rd nr Elsecar at the junction with Tinglebridge Lane is worse than ever and is positively dangerous.Drivers have to brake and weave about to cross this area, it's really THAT bad! It's also bad on the bends near the cottages opposite what is marked "Ppg Sta & Shafts" on the online map. Wath Rd needs repair for at least half a mile running from Elsecar to Wath/Melton.
This problem is getting worse with cars having to slow and weave about to avoid the worst areas. Also the road leading into Wombwell from the main Barnsley Rd roundabout is an absolute disgrace, rough & full of potholes. Put down some corrugated iron sheets, please,it'll be smoother than it is now!
The dangerous road surface that I have mentioned before on Wath Rd. near Elsecar at the junction with Tinglebridge Lane is worse than ever and is positively dangerous.Drivers have to brake and weave about to cross this area, it's really THAT bad! It's also bad on the bends near the cottages opposite what is marked "Ppg Sta & Shafts" on the online map, and there is a bad pothole on the bridge leading into Elsecar. Wath Road needs repair for at least half a mile running from Elsecar to Wath/Melton.A quick "BODGE" job was done a few weeks ago on this junction area, and the repair lasted about a week then the thin tarmac they put on broke uo and returned to gravel and all the potholes and deep scars reappeared. This is even more disgusting because less than a mile away on Bramton Road the council is spending money building speed bumps and fancy bigger traffic islands..WHY?? Whoever the planning officer is who authorises this should be sacked! Why on earth would anyone but a complete bloody ignorant idiot spend money like that when Wath Road is in such dangerous condition. Why the hell don't they get their prorities right?
