No rubbish collection

In Herne Bay we are on the understanding that rubbish collections are not being undertaken by Serco due to the fact that there has been no gritting by KCC in side streets. In Charles St, trucks fom Iceland Frozen food store have been delivering and the house deliveries from this store have been going ahead as normal. Deliveries to all the Mortimer St Stores also have gone ahead as normal. So why is there a problem with rubbish collection for these houses? A lot of people I have spoken to have mentioned that they have not seen a gritting lorry in Herne Bay from KCC since the snow has started. Why are we left out? Do you want the pedestrians of Herne Bay sending in claims of injuries due to the lack of gritting and making our roads & pavements unsafe? If there is a problem with the lack of personnel to cope with the weather, try using the gardeners, refuse collectors and other people you employ to do other work during this time. Scotland does and that's how they keep the roads clear! LEARN FROM IT!

Refuse collections were suspended during the cold spell on Health and Safety grounds, and apart from christmas trees everything has now been caught up with. The garden collections will resume on Monday 25 January 2010. The gritting of roads and pavements is the responsibility of KCC.
