Grit bin/ gritting

As you know there has been a lot of snow and ice lately and while i know the gritters are strained at the moment out street has not been touched yet. the pavements are dangerously icy and as we have a few elderly residents using the them it seems a bit daft. if they put a grit bin i would happily do it my self to save them lying to me on the phone all the time. its also a problem as my wife is pregnant at the moment and cant leave the street for fear of slipping and hurting herself and the baby

You are kidding right? Hillingdon has to concentrate on gritting main roads so that emergency vehicles can get through and people can get around the borough. The council will never be able to grit everywhere, especially a small cul-de-sac. The grit should (and is) restricted to use where it is of most benefit. Besides older people should think twice about being out in this weather - even with grit it is slippery.

no i'm not kidding and i think you might have missed a large chunk of what was written i was requesting a grit bin for the estate so residents can walk on the pavements the road is a problem but its not a busy road so there is no need for it to be done but regardless of the temp old people need to buy food and things why should they be a prisoner in their homes because of the weather. but thanks for your response it was very... interesting now why not feel free to go back to counting your bricks or making shapes with your play dough thanks again

There is no need to be abusive. My point is that everyone agrees that there is a shortage of grit at the moment, and so gritting minor side roads should not be a priority. Your offer to spread it is very generous, but we have the manpower in Hillingdon to spread it, just not the supply to be able to afford it.
