I'm a member of the Liberal Democrat Action Team for that area (Stockwell ward). Thanks for raising this issue.
We have raised it directly with Lambeth's graffiti removal team on your behalf and asked that it be tackled by them as a matter of urgency.
I'll keep you posted on their response and timings.
Thanks again,
Anthony Bottrall Lib Dem Action Team - Stockwell.
We've had a response back from the council on this graffiti issue now (see below).
Unfortunatedly, they're claiming that the cold weather means they can't clear it until 20th January at the earliest, due to the danger of the water they use turning to ice.
Whilst I do understand their concern here, I think they should re-asses the risk involved on a day-by-day basis, rather than just autmoatically rule-out the next 2 weeks due to assumed weather conditions.
Your local Liberal Democrat Action team will continue to push for this cleaning job to happen as soon as possible. I'll keep you posted.
Best Regards,
Anthony Bottrall Stockwel Lib Dem Action Team
EMAIL FROM COUNCIL :
"Thank you for highlighting the issue of the graffiti to us. However, due to the adverse weather conditions that are currently being experienced the grimebusters team are not in a position to clean the graffiti. This is because the water used by the jet spray could become potentially hazardous when it freezes. It is currently estimated that this cold snap will last for approximately two weeks so I would hope that we would be in a position to look at cleaning the graffiti around about 20th January but this will be dependant on how much of a backlog the team have to deal with. If the cold spell continues for longer than the estimated two weeks then we will update you".
I'm pleased to report that the council have notified me that the graffiti was removed on Tuesday (19th).
I will check the area myself this weekend to confirm.
Please feel free to contact us directly with any future problems if that would be helpful : stockwell@lambethlibdems.org.uk
