Local residents appropriating public car spaces

Sent to Brentwood Borough Council 4 minutes later

Bakers Lane and Bakers Mews has several local residents who place road cones so as to reserve parking spaces in what otherwise appears to be public parking spaces, This is a regular practice and occurence at Bakers Mews as well as 2 Private Parking plaques along Bakers Lane, which unless proven otherwise should be asked to be removed by whoever has placed them.

I seriously dont blame these people putting cones out considering some people in this town have more than one car and those putting the cones out prob have one car and find when they get back home from say a short trip there space has gone. I think that the council need to tax those who have more than one car and also provide allocating parking for those who have one car to a space outside there home.

This continues to be an issue. The public roads are public, for everyone. If people want their own parking space, they can provide it on their own land: it's not for the council to sort if for them.

They can ask for the road to be made residents parking only if they like, and pay the council for permits every year.

The police should be called in over this - it's illegal.

To be honest, we dont see any police cars or officers potroling the streets of Ingatestone anymore and to be honest, i think they would be more than sympathetic to ingatstone locals and those who live there than outer towners who cant be bothered to pay for parking at the train station.

I seriously think people should write to the council to get residents parking arrange to stop outer towners from parking where there is enough space at the train stations and the community centre car park.

The problem may now be further aggravated as Brentwood Council is thinking of imposing paid parking at the Marketplace and near the surgery. I agree that it would be fairer to solve the shortage of parking issues with local resident and shop owner permits, but in the meantime public spaces are exactly that; PUBLIC. Just because you reside in an area with public spaces does not entitle you to appropriate it with cones, private parking plaques, etc.
