Empty Houses

Reported by Janine Enefer at 23:04, Sun 29 November 2009
Sent to Brighton and Hove City Council 1 minute later

2 council houses at the bottom and another quarter of the way round Staplefield Drive have been empty for a very extensive period of time they are being used as playgrounds by children who are causing substantial damage and mess. Adults have used them for dumping a number of beds and other rubbish. Half a divan is on the steps leading down the pathway causing an obstruction especially as the hedges are overgrown onto the path already from the houses. It is an absolute disgrace these houses are like this for so long.It has been reported at the LAT for several months but nothing has been done about it. There are also 2 private houses in the same street which are similarly empty and being used to dump beds etc. One of them has been empty for over 8 years that I know about (No11) I do not wish to live in a rubbish dump it is VERY overdue that the council do something about all these houses

Two of the council houses have been cleared which is a major improvement. The two private houses are still in a state. Thay have been empty for a good many years and the front gardens have been used as a dumping ground for rubbish and old matresses.
