Potholes / damaged road surface Benwell Road

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 11:46, Wed 28 October 2009
Sent to Islington Borough Council 3 minutes later

The cycle lane which runs the whole length of Benwell Road between the Emirates Stadium and the junction with Drayton park has dozens of cracks, holes and pits in it which makes the road surface pretty terrible to cycle on and downright dangerous as people weave around the road to avoid the worst holes. I first reported this more than a year ago and nothing has been done. When will this be addressed?

Thanks for raising this problem. I am sorry to hear about the lack of response from Islington Council.

I have referred it to the council's Director of Environment & Regeneration for a reply.

Best regards

I have received a reply from Highways team who confirmed they did receive the report on 28th October from fixmystreet.com and that the fault was repaired on the 30 October. They say they don't have a record of the original report last year.

Benwell Road will be renewed as part of the streetworks associated with the Queensland Road development and work will be scheduled once the development has been completed.

In the meantime the Highways team will continue to carry out appropriate repairs until the resurfacing works can be implemented.

So"the fault was repaired on the 30 October." Really? Which one exactly? There are dozens of faults, I can't see any new repairs. Good to hear that Benwell Road will be renewed after the Queensland Road devt is done, tho'.
