Damaged Purbeck Stone pavements

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category by Mike Hadley at 16:35, Mon 19 October 2009
Sent to Dorset County Council 5 minutes later

Lorries/cars delivering and/or just parking crack the paving slabs. These are left cracked and unsightly for months or years, before possibly being replaced with tarmac or concrete. Stone is such an important part of the heritage of Swanage that these damaged pavements should always be promptly replaced with stone. Of course the cause should be addressed. Is this a matter of stopping vehicles using the pavement, or could the stones be better-laid?
