Ball games and truancy
Reported anonymously at 17:27, Sat 19 September 2009
Sent to Kent County Council and Shepway District Council 2 minutes later
Request 1: - Clear overgrown trees from “No ball games sign”
Request 2: - Police to warns children that hey should not be damaging property with ball games
Request 3: - Investigate regular truancy claims
I’m not sure if this falls under appropriate things to report, but the area of Battery Point has been getting worse and worse over the last six months or so due to uncontrollable children in the area playing ball games. They basically treat the street as their own playground and sometimes don’t seem to be at school. The residents in the area don’t mind a few games going on but now it is getting overboard. Balls are kicked into windows and car lights have been damaged but nothing seems to get done about this. Residents have tried talking to the children and their parents to no avail.
There is a sign next to one of the offending kids houses that states “no ball games” but it is covered by overgrown trees, maybe trimming them back is request that might be more applicable for this site, the sign is between 19 and 20 Battery Point, Seabrook, Hythe. If a sign was up on display the residents would maybe feel a little more empowered at least.
The children that seem to be the worse offenders come from numbers 19, 20 and 21 Battery Point. The kids that are often seen playing during school time come from 20 and 21. I would rather not give my details as I really don’t want to be targeted by the families in question.
This situation has really made peoples lives a misery, noise all day and everyday means that they basically cant enjoy living in their own homes anymore. Any help or advice on what can be done regarding this situation would be greatly appreciated.
