Learner Drivers

Sent to Kent County Council and Canterbury City Council 2 minutes later

We are getting an excessive number of Learner Drvers using the junction of Western Avenue with Ford Close and Windmill Close to practise their manouvres. Sometimes they are queing up one behind the other. There are a lot of older drivers in this area, also children play in Western Avenue, this is not a good mixture and it is only a matter of time before there will be an accident. The learners often start arriving at 07.00 and continue right through the day sometimes until 9 or10 at night 7 days a week. They often obstruct the flow of traffic and are a real nuisance to the residents of the area.

The Council didn't want to know and have stated that it comes under the Kent Police Authority.

this was forwarded to Kent Highways Department , who in turn denied that it came within their remit and suggested that it came under the jurisdiction of the Kent Police Authority. I contacted our local community officer whose response was that maybe they would look at stopping the children from playing ball games in the street as that is illegal. The rest of my complaint isn't a Police matter. What it really boils down to is that no one wants to know so they just pass the complaint from one department to another until you give up from frustration.
