Tree causing damage to wall

Reported in the Trees category by Gareth Anthony Davies at 10:55, Mon 7 September 2009
Sent to Cardiff Council 5 minutes later

I live at 22 Nottingham Street. Next door's front garden, 24, which I believe is a council-owned property, has a tree growing which is causing damage to the wall separating both houses.

It seems that the way the root is growing is causing this and I'm concerned that it will grow further to cause damage to the patio and nearby bay window area of my property.

Therefore this tree needs to be removed root and branch as soon as possible to prevent the damage spreading.

Thank you in advance.

I received a call on the same day of reporting the problem to let me know that someone was looking into it.

A week later I received another call letting me know that someone had been to take a look at the property and that the tree would be removed. At the moment though, nothing more has taken place and so the tree is still there causing the same problem.

After hearing from a Mr Fraser at Cardiff Services straight away that the problem would be fixed, I am still waiting for this to happen. Could you please let me know when I can expect the tree to be removed? It is still causing damage to the aforementioned wall.

Nothing has happened to resolve the problem and have heard no correspondence since September!!!

After what seemed to be good service initially, this is now wholly unacceptabele. Why has nothing happened since?

Still nothing has been done!!!

Could you let me know who I can speak to about this? This needs sorting out asap.

WHY???

Posted by Gareth Anthony Davies at 10:27, Wed 24 February 2010

It's been 24 weeks since I was told that the problem would be fixed. Why has nothing been done?

Does anyone take note of the feedback left on this site?

Answers now, please!

Finally the tree has been removed but the damaged wall is yet to be replaced. As soon as that's done i'll be able to click "Yes" above and finally put this to bed!

The shrub has been removed but still nothing has been done to repair the damage it made to the front walls.

Tree's been removed but the wall STILL hasn't been replaced, surprise, surprise.

Shrub was removed but is now growing back. It obviously needs to be removed by its root.

The wall still hasn't been replaced.

The shrub is rapidly growing back, therefore still causing damage.

Was told this would be rectified nearly two months ago and still nothing has been done!
