Hazard on Didsbury Road

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 21:20, Mon 10 August 2009
Sent to Stockport Borough Council 4 minutes later

Extensive roadworks have been carried out on the stretch of road by the shops in Heaton Mersey - including a parking bay for drivers who want to use the shops . Unfortunately people are still parking on the kerb edge outside the co op store . This bit of pavement protrudes into the road more than it did before the roadworks and I presume that the intention is to mark yellow lines along that bit of kerb at some point and to restrict the parking to the bay but this has not happened yet. The result of people using this area to park is that this bit of road is now very narrow and there have been several near accidents here in the last couple of weeks. Can we have some yellow lines ASAP? Thanks

It seems that the area I was concerned about is going to be the pedestrian crossing ... but the work is so slow that someone will be killed before its completed !

Somebody was killed there before the road works started. It was an off duty police man. These roadworks are becoming a joke. 7 months of limited progress, the new entrance to the car park, will result in people parking where the old entrance was located and thus blocking traffic trying to exit from the opposite side road due to double parking in the area you mentioned in your comments. The council need this addressing ASAP. The yellow lines will not stop people parking there, people parked on double yellow before the changes were introduced and these idiots will not change now. It's common sense not to park there.
