Removal of pedestrian crossing

Reported in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 08:46, Mon 6 July 2009
Sent to City of London Corporation 4 minutes later

During the development of the area around Aldgate the traffic light pedestrian crossing in Mansell Street was decommissioned and moved to the other side of the junction with Little Somerset Street. This was & remains a popular crossing area. The traffic lights were moved but few people use them. If the council did a crossing study, they would see that pedestrians walking through to Aldgate tube station continue to cross at the same place but now without the safety of the traffic lights.

I agree, I still cross in the old place it is much more convenient from those walking up Alie street and through Little Somerset Street to Aldgate station.
