Canal Towpath

The canal towpath is only halfwidth at library lock as the other half has collapsed into the canal. This is a long standing problem. 2 years ago there was official red tape put round the hazard but now tape has been removed by vandals. Rights of way section were informed recently of this hazard. Recently a woman on a disability scooter toppled into the canal at this point and had to be fished out and ambulance attended.

Updates
This eroded section of the towpath has now been fixed temporarily by using wooden shuttering and infill. At least it is now safe until a more permanent scheme takes place. The response was very quick once the safety aspect was highlighted.
