Traffic Calming Needed

Reported in the Roads/highways category by John Sanderson at 16:13, Mon 29 June 2009
Sent to Calderdale Borough Council 1 minute later

Newlands Road is being used as a dangerous 'Rat Run' between Burnley road and west Halifax, with high traffic volume speeding past morning and evening. Much of the traffic speeds past the cottages at Newlands Gate at dangerous speed toawrd a blind bend at the top of the hill, where vehicles cannot pass. The stretch from Warley Town Lane to Camp End is single track, with no pedestrian footpath, cottages built almost onto the road, residents parked vehicles outside and no observable speed limit. The lane is used every day by walkers, cyclists, horse riders and runners. The lack of traffic calming at Newlands Gate is a serious accident waiting to happen, and an extreme frustration to residents.
