Speed limit signs

Reported by David Goulty at 11:04, Thu 16 April 2009
Sent to Norfolk County Council and Breckland District Council less than a minute later

There is a need for 40 mph signs to be erected before entering the 30 mph zone. The 30 signs are too close to the roundabout and heavy lorries hit this at speed. There have been a number of accidents where vehicles have rolled over as they cannot negotiate the roundabout as their speed has been to high. There needs to be 40 mph signs further out along the A1088 so that vehicles do not have to brake hard when reaching the 30 signs

I was contacted by the Council who said they would conduct a site visit and survey the problem. Although my suggestion is sound and theoretically the costs are low to effect an improvement, no doubt the red tape involved in erecting a few road signs is significant. That unfortunately is Britain today, nothing is simple any more.

After the initial contact from NCC there has been no feedback. Whether they have visited the road yet, I do not know nor what action they intend to take if any. It would be good practice for NCC to report back on any decision or lack of. Thank you "fix my street" for following this up.
