Rutted Road Surface

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 10:27, Sat 11 April 2009
Sent to Bromley Borough Council 3 minutes later

Birkbeck Road is the main entry road from Elmers End Road via Beckenham Road and all traffic comes down Birkbeck Road to Avenue Road where it has to turn off. The road surface is in a deplorable state, especially the humps which get potholes by the side very often and driving along can be quite hazardous! Please can this be fixed?

I did have an e-mail from Bromley Council which was a copy of an e-mail forwarded to ESD Highways requesting them to contact me with regards to my complaint. To date I have not had any contact with the ESD Highways.

I have had no response from Lb of Bromley and to date the road surface is still in a deplorable state due to the fact that all traffic has to enter from either end of the road before exiting through either Ravenscroft or Mackenzie Road.

Although the road has not been repaired yet just recently white markings have appeared on the bad spots so I am hopeful that work is about to commence!!

Nothing has been done about the condition of the road as yet so I am about to e-mail the head of ESD Highways, forwarding the e-mails which I received earlier from LB of Bromley, and will complain.

Still not fixed!!!!!

Nothing has been done to the road which is breaking up even more since I first wrote. However, as from this week the pavements and driveways are being re surfaced and tiled which is going to take 19 weeks to complete so one can only hope that something is done about the road when this work has finished!!

The road surface is still exactly the same, however, we have had new paving stones laid in the whole road and I have heard from the contractors that the road surface will be renewed once they have finished! I think it is a case of watch this space!!

The pavements and drives in the whole road have now been re-paved and I have been informed that the road will be re-surfaced in the New Year. Maybe next time I update there will be better news!

No update I am afraid, however, we have had quite a bit of snow just recently so there is an excuse this time!!! Watch this space!!!!

Weather still inclement so resurfacing is on the back burner I should expect. Maybe soon!!!!?

Nothing has been done to the road which is in an even more deplorable state. The pot holes are really deep in places and because this road is the cut through road the constant tyre tread has worn ruts in the road surface which is making driving even more dangerous!

Still no update!!!

A few pot holes have been quickly filled but the road surface is still abysmal!

I have had to tick the No box because the road is in exactly the same deplorable state BUT we are supposed to be having the road resurfaced starting 10 June 2010, which is this week, so watch this space!!!

Cannot believe that I am actually saying that the problam has been fixed, it has taken over a year! Last week the whole of Birkbeck Road was resurfaced and the road is now so much better!
