Wrongly painted no loading markers

Reported in the Roads/highways category by Rob Shaw at 14:42, Fri 10 April 2009
Sent to Leeds City Council 2 minutes later

A third line has been added to the no loading markers on the kerbs in this area, but the 3rd line has been added in white not yellow. I think this means that they are no longer legal.

The council have emailed me about this. They said:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The no loading kerb markings that you quite rightly describe as having an additional third white/grey marking have been identified by our highways inspectors as not conforming to the current Traffic Signs Roadmarkings and General Directions (TSRGD) 2002 manual and are currently waiting to be removed.

Some background information that might be of interest to you: The lining contractor for the highway works at the junction incorrectly repainted the old style of markings 'the three bar markings' on the kerbs, continuing the kerb marking seen on adjacent kerbs in that area. However this type of no loading marking has now been discontinued by the Department for Transport and is being phased out. So in an effort to make good their error, the contractor subsequently painted over the third yellow bar marking with a light grey paint. You will be pleased to know that the highway works are covered by a 12 month maintenance period and this item has been raised with the contractor for their attention.
