Highbury Grange - numerous potholes, cyclists at risk

Reported in the Potholes category by Ruth Goldsmith at 14:56, Thu 9 April 2009
Sent to Islington Borough Council 3 minutes later

Numerous large potholes on the left and right hand side of Highbury Grange, clustered around the edge of the road, in the line where cyclists ride.

Particularly bad at zebra crossing just after junction with St Paul's Road going north; cyclists forced to veer out to the right at pinch point, risking contact with vehicles overtaking.

A number of the potholes are related to man hole covers.

Please can something be done to rectify these problems - it is a busy through road and some major works have just been completed but seemingly with no resurfacing or attention given to the quality of the road surface.

Would appreciate feedback from Council if possible on when the issue will be addressed.

Many thanks.

This problem has not been fiixed nor have I received anything other than an automated response from Islington Council. Not very impressed.

I'm also in discussion with Islington Council about potholes on Landseer Road. I too had no response so had to contact my local MP to help. He contacted the Council on my behalf but they're now saying that there's not enough traffic on the road to merit it being fixed. Traffic, I assume, means cars. Cyclists aren't part of the equations. So I'm researching a suitable response. Any input would be greatly received!

These potholes have got noticably worse in the last few weeks - that are a big problem when cycling up the road and force you out wide to avoid them at a nasty pinch point in the road.
