Damage to grass verges

Sent to Cheshire County Council and Vale Royal Borough Council 1 minute later

Contractors were re-laying aprt of the road on 21/13/09 and heavy vehicles have caused damage to the grass verges in several places.

why do the council not repair grass verges? Are they not part of the pavement and the responsibility of the council. The general poor condition of the verges brings down the tone of the street. If the council are not prepared to fulfill their obligations, they maybe they should force the people who damage the verges (bus companies, contractors, residenrs etc.) to repair the damage.
