Lack of public and/or dog mess bins

Since becoming a dog owner at the end of 2008 it has struck me several times that there are simply no rubbish bins in the area at all.
I walk the dog across the grass area between North Street and Kingsway and then either up the hill across the A611 and into 'the warren' (Robin Hood Caves) area, or for a short distance down the hill and along Nuncargate road.
Whilst there is a sign stating that dog mess is forbidden and will be penalised, there are no bins at all in the areas I walk. I always clear up my dog's mess but it is frustrating having to sometimes carry the bag for 30-40 mins before being able to dispose of it when I return home.
Under the circumstances, it never suprises me that some other local dog owners either leave the mess altogether or bag it and leave the bag on the ground.
In fact, I don't think the council's penalty notice at the bottom of Nuncargate/Kingsway could ever be enforced in court in these circumstances.
Please give us at least one bin, preferably somewhere around the grassed area previously mentioned. If we could also have another one near the public footpath entrance to 'the warren' that would be perfect!
