Poor condition of lane linking Redford Crescent top end to Redford Crescent bottom end

Sent to Bristol City Council 4 minutes later

I am writing regarding the condition of the lane located at two points between houses on Redford Crescent. The condition of the lane has deteriorated tremendously, and has become extremely muddy and slippery since the hardcore that was initially put there many years ago has sunk, and I was therefore writing to you to see if there would be anything that could be done to bring the lane back to its previous standards. The area has become quite an eye-sore, which I think some people have come to understand it to be a ‘tipping area’ due to the amount of waste which has accumulated over the field. We have seen rats on many occasions, not only running around the field, but also across the gardens of the houses linked to the field, ours included. I had this responded to by Stephen Parker as the lane being 'okay'. I have to completely disagree and would like a surveyor to come and assess the site properly. Considering there are pensioners, and a person with disabilities, who require daily access to and from the lane, I consider this to be a matter of importance.

This problem has yet to be resolved.

I have also written to Dawn Primarolo, Bristol's Labour MP, on two occasions and have had zero response.

How else can I get their attention to this matter ?

Since my last report I have been onto my local MP, Dawn Primarolo, who politely responded by letter confirming that she'll be trying to get this put into operation.

I have had an e:mail back from my council today (stephen Parker) : Hi, my Manager Jackie Llewellyn, is currently considering your request and looking at quotes for the work required

So, finger's crossed I might be getting somewhere with a problem that I must have noted to the council around 10 years ago!

There HAS been approval for minor repairs to be carried out, but I'm still waiting for these repairs to be addressed.

The council are now refusing to resurface the area due to yobs on quad-bikes.

I've now sent ANOTHER e:mail off to the council, stating that we should be eliminating the problem, and not giving into these 'yobs' needs!

There has still been no progress with the resurfacing of the lane, and we are getting more and more quad-bikes, off-road bikes, and even teenage idiots in cars racing up and down the lane due to the lack of respect for the area. If the council were to take this matter more seriously, carry out the resurfacing, there would be less anti-social behaviour within the community !

Not quite sorted, although things are looking more positive.

The council have sent around a door-to-door letter quoting that they'll be resurfacing the lane with chippings, and asking if anybody has any reservations, to let them know.

Allegedly, the laying off the chippings should begin next week.

Fingers crossed

Having sent another e:mail to the council, I've had a reply stating that due to other resident's input, they may be considering carrying out a bigger job.

So, it's back to playing the waiting game...

...oh, haha - that's what I've been doing for six months already ! <note the sarcasm>

Still no progress !

Still not sorted. I sent a complaining e:mail to Dawn Primarolo 2 days ago, as I can't get any response/communication from the council either !

Yet again, still no work done. The latest is that the council are planning on putting a lock over the gate, and giving using residents a key....whoopie doo!

What that has got to do with the initial problem of it needing resurfacing is beyond anyone's comprehension!!

Went to a meeting last Thursday with other local residents who were unhappy with the condition of the lane. The people working for the council are going to put it infront of a board-meeting to see what can be done, as it was agreed that tarmac, and simple landscaping would be the simplest and easiest solution.

Still no movement on correcting the lane, and it's becoming even worse. The surface has now become uneven and unsafe. I have contacted the council regarding this, and they are doing their best to avoid it....so it seems !

Problem still not resolved!

Council are now saying that the person in charge of this 'project' is out sick (has been for months), and no-one else knows how far Lisa Taylor had got with resolving the issue.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses !!

Smells like BS to me
