Rubbish in the street

Reported in the Street cleaning category by Melanie James at 20:22, Tue 3 February 2009
Sent to Caerphilly Council 3 minutes later

This has been reported previously, and the automated road cleaner payed a visit. The problem is that it cleans at the time of day when the cars are parked, and so it only cleans the middle of the cul-de-sac.There are plants growing next to the kerbs, there is rubbish everywhere, and becuase the drains are blocked, and outside the proporties of 14, 15, 16 the drain is on the opposite side to the gradient. So all the muck and water gathers outside of 11, 12 and 13. Also a grit bin has been requested (the cul-de-sac is at the top of Hengoed Hill!!), but the request was turned down. If the council wishes to retrieve the old one, it can be found in the lane between 13 and 14 Hawthorn Ave, and Trem-Penallta just infront of the power cable post (it is very visible). It has been expressed by the office that deals with the grit boxes, that if it put back in it's original position, then it could go missing once more. So a suggestion is that it could quite easily be placed at the bottom of the cul-de sac, where it is in full view of all the proporties! The distance to the grit box would therfore be the same as if it were at the top end, but it would be much less likely that it gets nicked! In this recent weather it is all 'well and good' to grit the main road (Hengoed Hill), but the problem remains that if you can't move your car out of your street, then gritting the main roads seems like false economey, and a waste of much needed money that the residents of CCBC pay too the authority (this is not rocket science).

I did get a response, and after a lot of explaining (on my behalf) they have removed the grit box from the back lane, but that is all that 'has' happened!!
