Road and pavement gritting

Reported by Mr M Turnbull at 12:44, Thu 8 January 2009
Sent to Chester City Council and Cheshire County Council 1 minute later

Since this latest cold spell the people living in Ingham Close, Boughton have not had their rubbish taken away and neither has the roads or pavements been gritted. The average age of people living in this area ia about 75. The area is now (Thursday) a lot better but some people have been marooned in their flat since Monday due to the icy pavements and roads. By flat 2 there is a sand and gravel bin and some friends of the residents have spread as much as they could to help but that has now run out and the bin is empty. A poor service for our aged and infirm people in not just Ingham Close but Chester pavements in general. The local hospital has been innundated with people having treatment for broken limbs. A disgrace

The pavements did not get gritted in Boughton until Thursday. However the sand and gravel bin was eventually filled even though someone from the Highways department stated that Ingham Close did not have a gravel bin.
