Stolen grates

Reported anonymously at 11:06, Thu 8 January 2009
Sent to Lancashire County Council and Pendle Borough Council 4 minutes later

3 grates have been stolen from the back street behind Keighley Road at Nos. 154,160 & 166. This has left 3 gaping holes for someone to fall in and break a leg, or a car wheel to get stuck in.

Another grate has gone missing behind No. 180 Keighley Road overnight. The Highways Department says this back street is not their responsibility, but as this is a cobbled street that has been there for more than 100 years, I am sure that it is their responsibility.

The Lancashire highways department's answer to this problem is that as the back of Keighley Road is unadopted, it is not their problem. A 4th. grate has since been stolen.
