Pedestrian Crossing Silent

Reported in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 08:35, Tue 25 November 2008
Sent to Bedfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

The Pelican crossing near to Hayhoes Post Office on High St South has no audible sound on it. After speaking to nearby residents and customers of the Post Office I have been informed it has never had an audible tone, which I find alarming. We have recently moved to Bowmans Way moved and my partner (who is registered blind) needs to use this crossing daily, but she cannot hear when it is safe to cross!

Can this fault be fixed as soon as possible or my partner, and others, are at risk of injury if crossing when not safe to do so.

The lady who sent this report is right,- the crossing still does not beep and is dangerous for school children and blind people crossing. It seriously needs fixing!
