Missing iron gates to listed building

Reported in the Parks/landscapes category by Otley Conservation Task Force at 17:33, Sat 9 August 2008
Sent to Leeds City Council 2 minutes later

These beautiful iron gates to West Lodges, Otley, owned by the Council, were removed on or about 21 April. I reported it to the Council, but despite correspondence since (including their suggestion they may have been removed to keep a public bridleway 'open'), they asked me to find out what has happened to them myself. The gates are still missing.

...as a result of the publicity afforded by FixMyStreet.com, we can inform that the matter appears to be on the way to being resolved (6 October 2008). We were informed this week that the gates had been taken off to permit a vehicle to gain access to the private estate to the east (access to the estate is through the gateway), for the purpose of clearance of some overgrown trees. We were further informed that the gates have been stored by the estate owner, and that they will be reinstated shortly. We will let you know when they have been reinstated.
