Telephone lines being destroyed by tree

Reported in the Trees category by David G Smith at 13:04, Fri 20 June 2008
Sent to Swindon Borough Council 1 week, 6 days, 9 hours, 48 minutes later

There is a very large tree which has a telegraph pole situated less than three fee away from it's trunk.

When this tree is in full foliage and if it is a windy day, the branches of this tree sway and rub against all of the phone lines attached to the telegraph pole causing them to be damaged and having to be replaced often.

This tree is also an annoyance to the people on the opposite side of the street, as when in full foliage, it interrupts with the connection between their satellite TV dishes and the satellites in space which provide them their (Sky TV) service.

Yesterday (11/10/2008), the council came and trimmed this tree back, only slightly, around the area that the telephone lines enter the foilage of the tree.

This means that next year, we will all have the same problems again, that this tree causes, just as soon as it blooms again in the Spring.

Thanks for nothing, Swindon Council...

@ Mick Jones: Your comment is not only unhelpful, it is also abuse of this site to mark this problem as fixed, when it clearly has not. I too value most of the trees in this area, but the council saw fit to plant this one right next to our telephone wires some years ago and we have to now pay the cost of replacing them every couple of years. It isn't costing you anything, so therefore you can not understand what we are going through, so butt-out.
