Trees illegally hacked down in May

Reported in the Trees category by Alan Gale at 21:22, Sun 1 June 2008
Sent to Rossendale Borough Council 4 weeks, 4 days, 12 hours, 57 minutes later

I noticed yesterday, 31st May 2008, that a number of healthy trees had been hacked down on the Nature Trail adjacent to the new Hurstwood development at Newhallhey. I was under the impression that felling trees was illegal during the nesting and breeding season from May to October, and this is totally out of order and needs to be looked into right away.

I have attached two pictures of the 'vandalised' area, please look into this before any more trees, birds and wildlife habitats are destroyed at this important time of year.

another view of the damaged area

Well no response, but what did I expect, not even a negative reply from the council, who obviously don't care about such things, given similar events in other parts of the area. You can rest assured if this had happened in one of the councillor's backyards there would have been a swift response.

Finally got an acknowlegment of my mail saying I would be contacted, but nothing heard at all. Interestingly the council now have their own major problems with this company over another nearby planning issue.
