Puddles on paths
Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category by Dr William Block at 12:24, Sunday 29 January 2012

In wet weather large puddles appear at two locations in Gilbert Rd: close to the entrances of nos. 11 and 30. They often take several days to completely drain away, and they cause considerable inconvenience to pedestrians using the paths.

Subsequent examination of the puddled footpath areas shows that no permanent fixing of the problem has been done. Both areas require improved drainage so that rainwater does not accumulate on the surface; perhaps by drilling holes through the tarmac or concrete.

To date (27.3.12) there has been no significant action on this problem. The puddles need to be provided with drainage holes to prevent the accumulation of water in wet conditions. No such activity has been attempted.

The puddles which I identified have not been dealt with and require a visit after rain to determine the extent of the problem. Although Cambs C C have informed me that the problem has been fixed, this is incorrect, and the puddles remain a hazard to pedestrians.
