Dangerous Road, Speeding and narrow footpaths.

Reported in the Roads/highways category by Kathryn Jones at 19:32, Sun 31 July 2011
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 3 minutes later

The A362 Radstock Road has absolutely no speed restrictions, is extremely busy and used as a through fare by large amounts of HGV's. In addition to this there is a lack of signs telling motorists the speed limit, faded road markings that can hardly be seen, very narrow footpaths and in some places none at all. There is also a primary school on the road and no safe way of crossing. On the corner of Lilac Terrace where I live it is particularly dangerous when turning onto the A362 due to very narrow pavements. It is a constant worry and I really do fear for my child's safety being just centimetres from speeding lorry's. It really is the most dangerous road that I have ever encountered and something desperately needs to be done about it. Many thanks, Kathryn Jones.

Updates

  • I am still waiting for the council to get back to me on this issue. The council initially replied to my emails and showed some concern about the dangers of this road but have now gone very quite and have refused to answer any of my emails in the last couple of months. The road continues to be a real danger both when crossing and when on the pavements due to it being so narrow. I and others have had near misses here due to wing mirrors of large vehicles protruding onto the pavement when speeding past at over 40mph. Sooner or later someone is going to get hit and I strongly urge the council to do something about this asap.
