Vandalised Basketball Hoop: Middle Court@ Hackney Downs

Good afternoon, First let me say how much I enjoy Hackney Downs and the basketball courts. These are an amazing resource to have in the community and I use them almost every day. Secondly, I would like to ask if we could get the hoop on the middle court replaced? Every Sunday, 20 plus people (men and women) come down to the courts to play social basketball there. This equates to two full games. Unfortunately there is no hope on one of the Courts so this creates problems. I would kindly ask you consider putting one up. I know a lot of other people would love to use that end of the court other than myself. As it stands right now it is pretty much disused. Perhaps I could make a suggestion? I note that in London Fields there are two "new-ish" looking hoops. These are sitting over a distressed court that is pretty much unusable for basketball as there is no asphalt to play on. Perhaps it is like robbing Peter to pay Paul but I would like to suggest you take one from there and relocate it. Then you only have to pay labour for the fix and something that is not being used right now will (in both Hackney Downs and London Fields) will then be back in action. Just a thought. Thanks for taking the time to review my request. Kind regards, Bevan Kay

  • This is not a major problem, and hardly warrents a thought given what ahs happened in the last week. Still, the hoop still remains unchanged, if you are so interested to know.

  • OK, not sure if there is any reason to flag this to you. Obviously this is not something you care to fix but the bottom line is this issue is still outstanding; it has not been repaired as yet. Not sure if there is anyway to get an update from the council end on this but would be great to know what the deal is.
