Grass cutting in Rustington/Littlehampton

Reported in the Parks/landscapes category by Mr & Mrs Clements at 13:12, Tue 21 June 2011
Sent to Arun District Council 3 minutes later

The grass swards are left in a dire state AFTER the grass is cut. Huge drifts of cuttings are left in piles, these turn brown & look like cow pats all over the towns verges. Also the cutters don't strim the edges neatly or cut the grass evenly, leaving some long some short. For this reason the towns grass verges are starting to make the place look like a third world country. Does anyone actually check that this work is carried out correctly & of a good standard. If the grass is going to be cut so few times a year at least employ people who do a good job.

  • No answer from the relevant council dept. They only cut the grass & cleared the gutters when the judging was due for the national 'In Bloom' competition was due to start.Obviously winning a 'gold' was/is more important than doing the job for the rest of the year for the benefit of those that pay their wages, i.e the council tax payers.
