Drain covers off

Reported in the Roads/highways category by Stephen Booth at 13:13, Fri 4 February 2011
Sent to Birmingham City Council 1 minute later

The covers/grids on some drains in Medley Road (near it's junction with Gough road) have been removed. One has a barrier around it bu the other does not. The presence of the Barrier (and that it has the Amey log on it) leads me to believe that this is for some sort of work being done but I have not seen any engineers on site.

Similarly the cover is off one in Tomey road near to it's junction with Holte road.

This was reported to Birmingham City council Highways department on Wednesday (2nd Feb) at approximately 10:30am and logged as job reference 80035851110. The problem still exists. This is a health and safety concern and it would be easy for a car or person to go down the hole resulting a broken axle, broken bone or worse.

Had to write to my local councillor to have thios chased up. According to the response my councillor sent to me Amey (the council's highways contractor) claimed to have dealt with this problem. It was only when I told my councillor that the problem still existed that Amey did actually deal with it.
