Inadequate Signage

Reported in the Road traffic signs category by David Oldroyd at 15:02, Fri 8 February 2008
Sent to Bedfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Park Lane is a one way street which passes the local primary school. Cars regularly drive up Park Lane the wrong way as the signage at the entry to Park Lane is inadequate.

We have Champneys Henlow Health Farm close by and directions to this venue are inadequate which results in some of the clients and delivery vehicles entering Park Lane, realising they have gone wrong and then they make a 3 point turn and drive back up Park Lane the wrong way. This is made worse by the fact that at some of the turn round points selected, there is no sign facing the driver to indicate that Park Lane is a one way street. THEREFORE BETTER SIGNAGE IS NEEDED AT THE ENTRY POINT!

We were advised that it would be looked into and then nothing! There is a primary school and therefore this should be a major concern!

My councillor Tony Rogers has spoken to me and confirmed that they are pushing for a 20mph limit in Park Lane BUT he hadn't picked up on the signage issue and the one way abuse problem. He agrees that these are sound ideas and has promised to pursue them. we shall see.

We will just have to keep our fingers crossed that a school child isn't injured or worse as a result of this signage foul up!
