Missing electricity cover

Reported anonymously at 21:44, Thu 11 November 2010
Sent to Croydon Borough Council 1 minute later

Just outside of 89 Auckland Road, by the park entrance, there are two green electricity boxes. One has graffiti sprayed on it, the other has been missing a protective front plate for nearly a year now. Please can the graffiti be sprayed over and the cover replaced.

  • This is an issue for networks. The network company that are responsible for you area is UK Power Networks on 0845 601 4516.

Networks are responsible for all external cables and electrical works outside of properties and running right up to the meter itself. EDF are a supplier and take responsibility of the meters only.

I am very sorry you have had this ongoing issue for so long. We are unfortunately unable to assist. Please contact networks.

    Thank you EDF Energy

  • Called up UK Power Networks and apparently they aren't responsible for the green 'cabinets', as they are called. After 3 incorrect numbers later I eventually go tthrough to Open Reach on 0800 023 2023 and logged the issue with their helpdesk, that will pass the ticket to the engineer to have a look within 48 hours.

  • Back to original problem, the safety barrier has been removed (or stolen) thus exposing the entire innards of the cabinet.
