Poor Footpath

I have read the updates from the Council regarding complaints from residents about Army Lane footpath. This is not a rural footpath as quoted by the Council. This is a vital footpath linking a large housing estate to the main road. This is in the town town and as such should not be classed as a rural footpath. The Council should be encouraging residents to walk and support the local shops. The state of this footpath encourages residents to drive to the shops and to avoid the town and drive further afield to Tesco and Asda. Redrow built Forest Walk and they are now building the new estate on the brick works site both sites surrounding the footpath. Can they please be approached to provide funding to bring this footpath up to a standard that would allow its use all year round? This cost would be a very small amount in relation to their development costs and would bring them a lot of good press from local residents who rely on this footpath. What is required is the footpath to be cleared of vegetation on either side to make it wider and a much more substantial surface put down. Although we can't make people use them, some dog foul bins would also be beneficial for the responsible dog owners to use. If this path was of a better standard I think people would feel more embarrassed if their dogs were seen to be fouling it. Please, please can something more substantial be done with this problem rather than saying that it is sufficient? The residents would really like to feel safe when using this footpath and not be afraid to let children walk along it from fear of being soiled with dog dirt and mud.

Still no update from the council despite this being sent to them on 16th August. I am now in discussion with MP Mark Tami to assist with this problem. I have asked for Redrow to be approached for assistance with funding for this problem. They are responsible for the two housing developments both side of the path and are advertising the new "Heathlands" development on the Heritage Trail, which this footpath will be used to access.

Apologies for the delay. This path has been walked and found to be suitable for purpose. Unfortunately at present there is no money available for an upgrade. Regarding the dog bins, the relevant department has been contacted with a view to installing a dog bin at the Cross Keys end of the path

This path may look suitable to the council now but give it another few weeks of wet weather and this become impossible to pass in the winter due to the mud. Flintshire county council hae agreed to consider a dog bin at some point along the path but say they will have to consult with the nearby houses and have their agreement to place a bin there. I apreciate that money may be a problem but let's approach Redrow for a small contribution???? Please Flintshire CC

Still no response from the council or Mark Tami MP regarding getting this footpath fir for purpose. The only good thing about the recent cold weather was the mud was fozen and may the path passable. Looking at this site the council have supplied road planings to other footpaths so why not this one. Come on Flintshire...
