Updates

  • The problem still exists but the response from Amber Valley Council was "Thank you for reporting the problems you are having with problem parking. I have checked the details and I'm afraid that there is nothing that we have the power to enforce. The police will be able to help you with this as they have the powers to remove vehicles if they are causing an obstruction."

  • This problem has worsened, it gets that bad at times that cars, vans and lorries have to reverse to let oncoming vehicals to pass along this road, the parded vehicals are there all day long and the extent is over 100 metres long

  • Amber Valley Council gave JAMES factory owners to build their extension on their car park, therefore all employies have to park on the road, this was bad foresight on behalf of the council, therefore are equally to blame

  • This situation has not improved in any way whatsoever, in fact cars now park on the footpath on the jucntion of Salcombe Road and Wood Street North blocking the dropped curbs on both sides, that are there to aid all footpath users and disabled people in wheelchairs, mobility scooters and mothers with prams to cross Wood Street North, this is the main access road to the Rail Station from the north side of Alfreton. Also cars/vans parked all day on the footpath at the Northeastern end of Salcombe Road, the footpath here being so narrow that any car/van with wheels on the footpath completely block all pedestrian access. I know this is an industrial estate but is still a public footpath access through to the Rail Station that both myself and my wife use on a regular basis.
