Footpath obstructed

Prima Pasta restaurant put tables and signs outside at lunchtime. On a number of occasions recently the tables and signs have completely obstructed the pavement outside the restaurant forcing pedestrians to walk on the road to get past. Whilst it adds to the ambiance of the area to have pavement cafes I don't believe they should be allowed to block the pavement completely as in this case. Could Newcastle Council enforce a designated seating area which only takes up half of the pavement and allows space for pedestrians to pass?

The council responded quickly and checked what was permitted for outside seating. Someone from the council also visited the restaurant to ask them to ensure staff were familiar with the permitted layout when setting out the tables. I haven't seen a recurrence of the problem since.
