Low branches at bus stop

Reported in the Trees category by Conrad Roe at 00:12, Mon 9 August 2010
Sent to Sandwell Borough Council 2 minutes later

Cherry Tree with low branches - people have to duck as they walk under; when wet it is even lower. There are a number of blind or partially sighted people who walk down the street - it would be worse for them.

No action to date - except the branches have grown longer! They hang within 2 feet of the road now. Picture attached.

The Councillor has promised that the work will be done in September and October - no sign yet!

The council now have no plans to do this work; though they have agreed to assess the problems and notify the Councillor I contacted.

To a large extent the problem has become less of a nuisance with the leaf fall - but will return upon new growth in the Spring. I still have to duck when I go under the tree.

Recently the Council used a private company to radically prune and in some cases cut down dying trees in Cherry Tree Avenue. During this time the tree at the bus stop was pruned high so the problem is now fixed.
