New Street Light required and Trees need cutting down.

Reported in the Street lighting category by Mr Fraser Allan at 00:41, Mon 2 August 2010

There is an outstanding requirement for an additional street lighting column to be installed at Drummie Road Devonside. The distance between the first column located at the junction of Drummie Road and The Glen and the first column within Drummie Road itself is approximately 78metres - (Compares with approx 30metres or less between the other street lights in the street) - which means that the area between these columns is extremely dark and intimidating at night.

An associated matter, is also that the illumination from the new column at the Drummie Road/Glen junction is totally obscured in the public car parking area at No 1,Drummie Road by the trees in the area of waste ground behind the stone wall and bus shelter at the junction. It is my understanding that this area of ground is Council owned and it would be greatly appreciated if these trees could be cut back or better still cut down since there is also traffic visibility issues at this junction which require to be addressed by the Council

  • Clackmannanshire Council lighting section basically agree there is a deficiency in the street lighting at this location but are of the opinion that the erection of an additional lighting column is not really a priority (??) - As far as the foliage from the trees which is obscuring the existing street lighting at the start of Drummie Road is concerned the Council's lighting personnel do not appear to be familar with the Councils obligations or understand the Council's powers to improve the situation under the terms of the Road Scotland Act 1984 - Please keep this report on the system until the situation is rectified.
