Speeding Vehicles

Sent to Lambeth Borough Council 1 minute later

I would like to apply to have traffic calming measures adopted on Gipsy Road SE27 between Kingswood School and the mini-roundabout at the apex of the road. This road is like a race track with a large number of drivers and motorcyclists using excessive speed on the straight run this road offers them. There is an area where the road is narrowed but this only calms traffic when there is something coming the other way - when there isn't it's a green light for irresponsible drivers to accelerate to socially unacceptable and dangerous speeds. Often, when traffic does meet at the narrowing, they do not abide by the priorities which causes agressive responses, constant horns going off and, quite often, a stand off between two disagreeing motorists who both refuse to budge. Please can you look into alternative and additional traffic calming measures before there is a fatal accident here. Thank you

Lambeth said that the problem of speeding vehicles could not be addressed unless there had been an accident. I feel that this would be a case of 'shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted'. The Transport Team is, however, looking into the problem so I expect to be updated in due course.

Nothing has been done about the speeding vehicles and from the reply I received, nothing can be done until there is a fatal accident! Stable door/bolted?
