Confusing signs - Wardour Street and Lisle Street

Reported in the Road traffic signs category by Alistair Brightwell at 19:58, Thu 29 July 2010
Sent to Westminster City Council 2 minutes later

Earlier this week Wardour Street and Lisle Street received new signs declaring them Pedestrian Zones between 12noon and Midnight everyday. These signs are extremely unclear and are not noticed by the majority of drivers probably down to the bright blue one-way signs fitted directly beneath them. I understand that hydraulic bollards will be fitted at the end of September which will stop drivers entirely however that still leaves 2 months of unnecessary danger to pedestrians, I hope an interim solution can be found.

I have been away since before Christmas when Wardour street was closed north of Lisle Street.I turned into Wardour street yesterday noticing the Blue One Way signs but did not see the signs relating to it being a pedestrian area. I saw these as I exited into Shaftesbury. The problem is that the signs are not visible when turning right from Lisle. Is this a pedestrian zone or not ? I obviously don't want a a PCN but its very confusing.
