2 broken manhole covers causing potholes

Reported in the Potholes category by Dr Clive F Mann at 12:24, Fri 23 July 2010
Sent to Hounslow Borough Council less than a minute later

2 broken manhole covers are causing potholes to appear in Cedars Road inside lane west bound carriageway close to 51 & 53 Sutton Lane South. As heavy vehicles pass over them at speed they cause the houses to shake. This not only causes distress, but structural damage to the properties. My neighbour and I have been reporting this problem since about last September to counsel & TfL. We have also visited CAB on a number of occasions.

There were 2 drain covers causing potholes. One was fixed on 19 Aug 2010, but the other has still not been touched. So the problem is partially fixed & I thank you for that.

There were 2 broken drain/manhole covers. One was fixed, but the other which is nearby (about 30 metres East) was not. It seems incredibly wasteful to have to block a road and then only fix half the problem so a further stoppage of traffic will have to occur in future to fix it.

The sunken gully closest to our house has been fixed, and this has improved conditions considerably, but there are other sunken gullies nearby that still cause some problems.

One manhole cover fixed. Had meeting with TfL Roads inspectors on 12 Nov and they said they will fix more of the problem covers.

One pothole/sunken gully was fixed. There are probably about 3 others that need to be fixed. £ engineers from TfL came to inspect it about a month ago and said they would give priority to fixing them but nothing has happened.

One pothole/sunken drain fixed, others not.

There are actually about 5 broken gullys/manhole covers. One has been fixed. 3 top officials from TfL visited site months ago & no further work has been done although they said it was a priority. This is not a job that local people can do for themselves.

One pothole (out of about 5) was repaired and that improved things somewhat. In recent weeks it has worsened again. Is there any point in keep repeating this? Does anyone read this? If so, does anyone do anything about it?

Problem becoming worse!!!

It is getting worse. More damage to road causing more vibrations.

the worst broken drain has been fixed, but there are now about 3 others that need attention. I guess I will have to visit my MP again as this is the only action that gets any thing done!
