Dangerous new kerb

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 06:37, Mon 12 July 2010
Sent to Southwark Borough Council 2 minutes later

Kerbs to the new island outside of the Half Moon Pub are a dangerous trip hazard. One would expect the kerb to be flush with the pavement but here they are not. The pavement and road are at the same level and the kerbstone rises a min of 150mm higher. The kerb is not a contrasting colour and in bright sunlight it is impossible to see the change in level. I almost trippes and fell into the road and on-coming traffic. If this is not amended with a physical barrier or other manifestation there if a high likelihood of a serious injury in the future.

Since the initial post the contractors/council have erected temporary barriers at this traffic island to protect others from the trip hazard. Temporary barriers have also been erected on the island outside the entrance to Brockwell Park which has a similar issue.

A month and a half later and there is now no temporary protection. Photograph attached
