Nuisance Caravan

The caravan is not abandoned, the owner is known to the council who say he wants to keep it. It is dilapidated and I guess the cost to the owner to move it or scrap it is prohibitive. The police won't act, because it is not an obstruction. I suppose it might be considered to be a danger to children if they play on, in or around it. Any suggestions? That it?

Environmental health? Planning enforcement - as in blight.

It's all in the eye of the beholder ....

Yes, that's it. Environmental health don't see it as a health problem. I didn't think of Planning. I'll try them.

It would appear that there is no legislation to remedy the problem of unsightly caravans whose owners are known to the council. No owner, no problem.

So what would happen if I put a garden hut there? I would tell the council I owned it and would drop in to read a newspaper from time to time - or not. Could I leave it there?

The caravan has gone! A result, but nobody from the council has got back to me to tell me that they had 'fixed' it. I would have thought someone would have taken credit. Pity, because whatever was done to fix it might be replicated elsewhere.
