Puddles on the cycle superhighway

Reported in the Roads/highways category by elaine Kramer at 12:13, Wed 30 June 2010
Sent to Lambeth Borough Council 1 minute later

I reported the problem of puddles along Clapham Rd some time back. I got lots of references to further email contacts but nothing was done. This picture was taken after a brief shower on Monday, when it rains these puddles become ponds...and the cycle super highway goes right thru them

Because Clapham Road, where the road defect is located is a Red Route, the road's maintenance is now managed by Transport for London rather than Lambeth. I have therefore reported the pothole to Transport for London, letting them know all the details you included in your email.

Please contact them on 0845 305 1234 if you have any further queries.

Hi Elaine,

I'm still pushing on this to get a solution, via our London Assembly Leader Caroline Pidgeon.

Below is an email response we've received back from TfL, claiming the issue will be fixed by the end of this week.

I'll continue to monitor the site myself beyond the weekend to see if it has indeed been tackled yet.

Best Regards,

Cllr Steve Bradley, Liberal Democrat Action Team - Vassall Ward

Dear Anna Thank you for your email. In advance of the opening of the Cycle Superhighways, our contractors were asked to clear all drainage gullies along the route. Our engineers visited the site recently and noted the flooding – which appeared to be caused by some blocked gullies. Please be assured that an urgent notice has been issued to the contractors, asking for any blockages to be cleared within the next 24hours. I would expect this matter to be resolved in full by the end of this week. Please thank Cllr Bradley for taking the time to make us aware of this, and do not hesitate to let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Kind regards Hayley Hayley James – MQT and Information Co-ordinator
