Speed humps

This road continues to be an accident waiting to happen with cars racing along exceeding the speed limit, there is a school entrance without a crossing or pedestrian lights and multiple junctions. We have asked for traffic calming on numerous occassions but our request has been rejected. Many small side roads have these humps and are too short for cars to gain any speed, doesnt make sense!

Updates
Our request has been emphatically refused by the council due to finance. This is an area with many small children, we live in one of the end houses and our heart is in our mouth everytime a car speeds down the road. Should an accident occur my report to the newspapers will highlight the councils reluctance in solving this matter. It would be interesting to know the actual cost of speed humps on this road.
I have asked the council the cost of installing speed humps but have not received a reply
We are surrounded by humps except where death is likely directly next to a primary school. When it happens I can give evidence of your apathy. What is worse is that you have placed them on roads where accidents are almost impossible or where pressure by house owners means more than childrens lives
