Car Parking

Reported in the Car parking category by Mark Dearnley at 22:11, Sun 16 May 2010
Sent to Lancaster City Council 4 minutes later

There have been many Road Traffic Collisions on this junction, simply because the driver cannot see, the cars which are parked on either side make it very difficult too see coincidently making crashes occur. I think something should be done, anything just to prevent collision happening in the future

Dear Mr Dearnley, I refer to your request for 'No waiting At Any Time' restrictions to be placed at the junction of Albert Road and Westminster Road, Morecambe. I note that there are waiting restrictions in place at this junction - along the whole of the south side of Westminster Road and for a distance of approximately 15 metres on the other legs of this junction. The junction is situated within a 30mph speed limit and the existing restrictions should be sufficient to enable a driver to emerge onto the major road in safety. The County Council is aware of the number of collisions that occur in the West End of Morecambe and it is proposing to introduce a 20mph restriction as a pilot scheme in that area later this year . Initially the restrictions will be introduced without any traffic calming features and traffic speeds and collisions will be monitored. Suitable measures will be introduced at locations where accident and speed problems continue.

I understand what you mean (I pass through here on the bus). The road markings need improvement.

I wonder if Stagecoach has any input on this, it might be worth dropping them a letter
