Bus lane causing congestion.

The bus lane towards Hampton court Palace used to have variable hours on the lane when at peak only busses could use the lane and off peak all vehicles could use the lane. Now the lane is reserved for busses only throughout the day which has resulted in major traffic jams along Hampton Court Road, which ultimately results in the busses being delayed as they are now also caught up in the traffic. Thus why can't the bus lane go back to what it was for many years and enable cars to use the lane during off peak periods?

I've noticed this too. It appears that Transdev are now using the lay-by to turn round buses at Hampton Court. Consequently, through buses have to stop outside the lay-by on the bus lane; I imagine the thinking was that this would also interfere with traffic. However, they could use the bus stop round the corner; that would allow the bus lane to revert to peak times.

At the busiest times in Hampton's year, when the Hampton Court Flower Show is on, the bus lane is open to all road users. If TfL recognise that the opening the bus lane relieves congestion, then what justification is there for it's extended hours. 07:00 to 10:00 was sufficient in the past so please explain, why, when and how this was changed with no public consultation? Many residents who I represent, want it reverted to 07:00-10:00 and the bus stop moved back into the lay-by.
